SHOPPING ASSISTANT

GUERRILLA RESEARCH AND IDEATION

PROBLEM

People tend to overspend during grocery shopping in-store. The Money Advice Service was keen to understand where they could help people with their in-store grocery shopping experience.

APPROACH

  • Guerrilla research

  • Personas creation

  • Ethnographic research

  • Experience mapping

  • Storyboarding

  • Process flows

  • Wireframing

  • All finding collated in report

OUTCOME

Time management is the major factor causing customers to overspend. From the research and ideation carried out, a wireframed shopping assistant app was presented to stakeholders. While this was not taken to a prototype and testing phase, both Sainsburys and Waitrose trialled a similar concept soon after this presentation. Handheld scanners and shopping apps are now commonplace.
